The Coachella Valley Houses
Generous benefactors have donated four beautiful, 7-bedroom homes in Coachella Valley to Olive Crest to serve children and families in crisis.
Olive Crest will equip and empower Coachella Valley churches to establish Care Teams to support the missionary parents, children, and families.
Together, we can stop the cycle of abuse and neglect by empowering children and families to become healthy and productive in Coachella Valley. These homes can be beacons of Gospel-proclaiming hope and love.
THE CARE TEAM MODEL
Churches Serve as Care Teams for Missionary Parents & Children in Crisis
THE MODEL
Proven, Sustainable & Scalable
A Care Team is a team of committed volunteers, much like an extended family, who serve the missionary parents and children who live in the homes. They also care for the children’s struggling families and seek to rescue them from isolation.
This faithful team provides regular and ongoing emotional support, spiritual encouragement, and practical help (e.g., tutoring, childcare, transportation, laundry, yard work, healthcare, etc.)
WHO LIVES IN THE HOMES?
UP TO 8 CHILDREN
Children in crisis from the Coachella Valley Area are placed in the home. Olive Crest and Care Team leaders work with the county’s local agencies and families to determine each child’s needs. Children may be placed in the home for weeks or years, depending on their situations.
QUALIFIED MISSIONARY PARENTS
Olive Crest extensively qualified a Christ-centered, experienced married couple who have a proven track record for loving and serving children and families in crisis. These couples will live in the homes with the children and be on the front-line of the Kingdom work happening in the Family Circle Homes.
HOW IT WORKS
It’s Only Possible When Coachella Valley Churches Serve…
FAMILY HELPERS
Family Helpers usually serve by providing a meal once per month, delivered on the same day if the week and the same week of each month. Additionally, these volunteers can run errands, assist with homework, do yard work, and help with other practical tasks to support the family.
Ministry Coordinators
The Ministry Coordinators provides leadership for the Care Team. This volunteer contacts the family weekly and sends out a weekly email updating the team on prayer requests. This role can be uniquely filled or combined with any of the above roles.
CHILD MENTORS
A Child Mentor provides childcare or transportation 1-3 times per month as needed. This is a unique opportunity to pour love and encouragement into these vulnerable children. This role requires background checks in order for volunteers to spend time unsupervised with children.
INTERIM GIVERS
