About the Retreat

This two-day exclusive experience provides an in-depth look at Olive Crest’s PROMiSE initiative—a statewide effort focused on the Prevention and Restoration of Minors who have been Sexually Exploited. Attendees will gain insight into the impact that can be made, tour Olive Crest’s Hope Refuge Campus, and engage in meaningful discussions about the transformation in the lives of minors who have faced unimaginable trauma.

What is PROMiSE?

PROMiSE stands for Prevention and Restoration of Minors who have been Sexually Exploited. It is a multi-faceted initiative that addresses the crisis of the sexual exploitation of minors through five key components:

  • Drop-In Centers: Providing immediate services and fulfilling basic needs.
  • Rapid Response Teams: Operating 24/7 to connect youth with trauma-informed counselors and resources.
  • Teen/Young Adult Housing: Offering safe spaces for 16- to 18-year-olds to develop independence.
  • Trained Host Families: Providing specialized care in loving homes to children who have been exploited.
  • Residential Homes: Including our Hope Refuge Campus in Santa Barbara, which provides intensive services.

Through these efforts, Olive Crest aims to provide safe, stable homes to at least 150 children who have been sex trafficked by 2027. 

Travel Details

Transportation is arranged via the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, offering a scenic and comfortable ride in business class seats along California’s coast. The train departs from San Juan Capistrano and arrives just two blocks from the hotel.

If you would like to join us on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, but find it more convenient to catch the train from a different station closer to you, please do so. You may also choose to arrange your own transportation if you wish.

Day 1: Friday, September 19

  • 2:00 PM – Transportation from the Santa Barbara train station to hotel
  • 3:00 PM – Hotel check-in in the Djinn room
  • 4:00 PM – Welcome reception at Shamsah Rooftop
  • 5:00 PM – Dinner in the Fairbanks Room of the Mason Building

Day 2: Saturday, September 20

  • 7:30 AM – Breakfast in the Fairbanks Rooms of the Mason Building
  • 8:00 AM – Transportation to Hope Refuge Campus
  • 9:00 AM – Resident tour
    Meet the girls whose lives have been transformed through the healing power of God, family, and community.
  • 11:00 AM – Reflection session and future outlook
    *Lunch will be provided
  • 12:15 PM – Return to Santa Barbara train station
