Immediate Needs

We value your time, talent, and treasures! There are so many ways you can get involved or donate to meet the needs of at-risk children and families in our care. We need your financial giving, but we also rely on donations of home supplies, food, clothing, and other essentials to help support our mission to prevent child abuse and transform lives. See below for current needs in each of our regions across California, Nevada and the Pacific Northwest.

Immediate Needs

From diapers to blankets, we are always in need of items to help our children and families. We understand that our donors have different capacities for giving and are grateful for any items you can spare. Your donation will make a difference by providing timely and tangible needs for the children and youth we serve.

For the protection of our youth, only new items can be accepted unless otherwise indicated.

General Needs

  • Tickets – Please help our kids make a smooth transition into Olive Crest’s care with fun activities they can do with their families and support counselors by donating tickets to the Seattle Center, Pacific Science Center, Family Fun Center, Wild Waves, NW Trek, Aquarium, Point Defiance Zoo, Great Wolf Lodge, sporting events, Seattle Art Museum (SAM), Chuck E. Cheese, Taproot Theatre, ride up the Space Needle or on a ferry boat, also shows, plays, movies, museums, and other activities in the Seattle, Everett, Eastside and Tacoma areas.
  • Restaurant Gift Cards – One therapeutic way for families and Olive Crest case managers to bond with the kids is to take them out to lunch or for a snack. This is a real treat for many of our kids and we want them to feel special. Some ideas are: Subway, Red Robin, The Cheese Factory, Applebee’s, IHOP, Denny’s, Cold Stone, Baskin Robbins, Johnny Rockets, Starbucks and other family friendly restaurants. Gift cards are used during therapy sessions with foster children and as gifts for birthdays or thank you’s to our families who have opened up their homes to serve our children.
  • Clothing Gift Cards – Many of our kids have never had new clothes for school. Help our foster families enjoy going shopping together: Payless Shoes, Old Navy, JC Penney, Sears, Target, Fred Meyer, Wal-Mart and other department stores would be helpful.
  • Grocery Gift Cards – For families who are at jeopardy of losing their children to the foster care system, we can help provide for their basic food needs by providing grocery gift cards to Safeway, Albertsons, Haggens, Fred Meyer to help fill their kitchens with food and keep families together.
  • Emergency Equipment – Fire extinguisher (ZA10BC)- 5 lbs, Fire escape ladder.
  • Children items – Child proofing items, Diapers and pull ups in all sizes.
  • Bed items – Bunk Beds, Mattresses, Mattress Waterproof covers.
  • Welcome Bags – A lot of the time our foster kids are placed with very short notice and aren’t able to bring their clothes and belongings with them. We are asking for Welcome Bags which have a set of PJs, toothbrush, toothpaste, a blanket, socks, underwear, and an activity/coloring book for the appropriate age/gender of the child. Welcome bags help our kiddos feel welcomed and expected in their new home and relieves our foster parents of the stress of having to rush to find these items.
