Fostering and Adoption Olive Crest

Thank you for expressing an interest in becoming an Olive Crest Foster or Adoptive family.

Olive Crest is a private, nonprofit organization that serves the community by providing homes for children who are dependents of the state. These children have been taken into state custody due to abandonment, neglect, and/or abuse. Therefore, the children we care for require that Foster and Adoptive parents be educated on the special emotional needs these children may have. We provide in-home support, ongoing education classes and reimbursement for the care of children. Our Foster and Foster/Adopt parents are the primary agents of healing in the lives of the children we serve. We desire to equip our parents with the tools they need to have a positive impact on these children’s lives.

Foster and Foster/Adopt parents provide the primary care and supervision for these children. Therefore, Olive Crest Foster and Foster/Adopt parents need to ensure a safe, nurturing, and stable home environment that encourages the emotional and physical development of each child. Foster parent involvement can range from short-term care for children to adopting a child.

We are excited to welcome the YFC Foster Care ministry, its staff, families, and giving partners under Olive Crest’s organizational umbrella. Olive Crest feels a close affinity to YFC Foster Care and its culture, and we are excited to maintain and build upon that amazing platform. As a YFC Foster Care supporter, you may have questions about how this change will impact you or the ministry. Go to Olive Crest and Youth for Christ for more information.

Traditional foster parents are available to care for children who are dependents of the court. While the child is in care, the birth parents are given a plan for reunification by the court system. The child will be reunified with his or her parents if the court deems it appropriate and safe.

ITFC parents provide homes to children who have complex emotional and behavioral needs that exceed what a regular foster care family can meet. Olive Crest provides specialized and extensive training to these experienced foster parents and delivers a range of supportive resources and services. A case manager, behavioral coach, and specially trained therapist provide treatment designed to address childhood traumas.

Our Adoption program is dedicated to providing permanent families and quality services to children who are, or are expected to be, legally free for adoption. This includes the many waiting children in the foster care system. These children are generally over the age of 3, part of a sibling set, and come from various ethnic backgrounds.

Olive Crest has a 30-year history of providing care for children in need. Olive Crest was founded upon Judeo-Christian principles, which are reflected in the care we provide and our treatment philosophy. While we recruit Foster and Foster/Adopt parents from many areas of the community, we have attracted a large contingency of families from local churches. Olive Crest complies with state licensing requirements and manages each home within its guidelines.
