Become a Safe Families Church

The Safe Families outreach is only successful when it is embraced and adopted by the local church. Churches of all sizes are necessary to provide for vulnerable children within our communities.

Here is how your church can get involved:

Becoming a Safe Church:
Show Christ’s love and compassion by empowering, supporting, training and ministering to safe families within the Christian community.

Mentoring Safe Families:
Provide emotional and spiritual support, education, and guidance to families hosting children in their homes.

Recruiting Safe Families:
Show a promotional DVD during services, host informational tables, place advertisements in bulletins and newsletters or on websites.

Hosting Monthly Support Groups:
Provide opportunities for Safe Families to meet together on a monthly or quarterly basis, and build a sense of community and a network of support.

Development of Support Services:
Identify professionals and non-professionals to provide support services to those who care for children including physicians, mental health professionals, attorneys, social workers, nurses, etc. Help find volunteer babysitters, temporary care, and transportation services for host families.

Providing Resources: Developing a resource closet or center to help provide items for children placed within Safe Families. Including (but not limited to): diapers, formula, car seats, clothing, blankets, and other supplies that host families may need when children enter their home. Most children come into a Safe Families with very few supplies and personal possessions.
